Central Depository carries out the activity under the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On a securities market” and other legislative norms of the republic. Article 34 and 35 of above-named Law establishes the list of exclusive functions, as well as the rights and duties of Central Securities Depository at performance of functions of the central registrar of Central Depository.
According to the Law of the Republic Uzbekistan «On a securities market» Central Securities Depository is charged with:
Exceptional functions:
securities registration;
certificated securities holding;
holding the documents confirming securities issuance;
conducting registers of security owners;
registration of government securities rights, state authorized officials rights on securities management;
deposit account maintenance of investment intermediaries;
securities settlement in accordance with the established procedure;
registration of securities issued by non-residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan and eligible to trade within the Republic of Uzbekistan;
registration of securities issued by residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan and eligible to trade outside the Republic of Uzbekistan;
registration of securities rights issued and owned by investment funds, unless otherwise specified in legislation;
Depositors Unified Database maintenance;
Assignment of the international codes to securities issued by residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
Information collecting and organizing on movement of issued securities on deposit accounts.
Depositors of Central Depository are the state in the name of the State Property Committee, holdings, corporations, associations, investment funds and other professional participants of a securities market.
